Seagate fixes bug in 1.5TB Barracuda drives

Seagate on Wednesday said it has fixed a bug affecting some Seagate Barracuda hard drives that caused applications to pause.

The bug resulted in the party’s 7200.11 1.5TB hard drives hanging at certain times, which led to problems approve pauses in video streaming applications. It also led to a failure to recognize drives in certain configurations. The unsusceptible drives showed “uncharacteristic operation” when used with the Mac and Linux OSes in multidrive environments, the guests said in a statement.
To receive the firmware upgrade and instructions in continuance how to install it, Seagate has asked customers to send the company an e-mail at discsupport@seagate.com describing the problems and system information, OS and the application in use when the issues arose. Seagate has in like manner asked for the disk move helplessly model number, continued number and current firmware revision. The company said it will accord promptly to e-mail messages.
